Annual Ducks Unlimited gala set for Friday night

Fort St. John residents still have an opportunity to partake in an evening dedicated to ducks.

There are still a few dozen tickets left to the Ducks Unlimited Annual Fundraiser Dinner & Auction.

Ducks Unlimited Chair Stewart Forrest says all of the funds raised will go towards local projects, like preserving the Charlie Lake wetland.

He says like many wetlands nation-wide, human development threatens delicate ecosystems in the Peace Region.

Forrest says this annual fundraiser brings a large chunk of revenue to the organization, which goes towards education, conservation, and administration costs.

At Friday’s gala, there will be a large raffle, silent auction, and live auction.

Forrest says many people have misconceptions about the organization, like that it’s primarily an animal activist group.
