Calm day on the roads, despite weather

Even with all the snow in the Peace Region, it was a quiet day on area roads.

The RCMP report there were every few accidents in the region.  There were at least two accidents of note Tuesday.  The first occurred on the Alaska Highway near Farmington and involved a semi truck.  According to witnesses the truck jack knifed and caused the road to be reduced to single lane alternating traffic for just over an hour.  The accident happened just prior to 5pm.

The other accident of note, happened closer to Fort St. John. A cement truck rolled on the Alaska Highway near the Forest Lawn Trailer Park and the Swanson Lumber Road.  This accident caused only short delays on the highway as the truck ended up in the ditch.

In both accidents, there weren’t any reports of serious injuries.  The snow is expected to end this evening, with the forecast on Wednesday calling for sunshine and a high of minus 2.  For current road conditions in the Peace, click here.
