Curling teams invited to compete for cash

Entries are still being accepted for the 2009 Ryason Contracting, Tidy Trucking, PCA Cash spiel in Fort St. John.

Only seven rinks entered the event last year, and organizers are hoping new divisions, larger prizes, and a new format will bring in more teams.

This year’s event will feature play in three divisions: a competitive division (for those looking to play at the top level), a challenge division (for those who may not be able to ice four players able to compete at the highest level), and a junior divison.

Cash payouts range from $4000 in the junior division, up to $8000 in the competitive division.  As well, the top eight teams will qualify for the season ending Pomeroy Inns and Suites PCA bonspiel in Sexsmith.

Entry fees are $600 for the Competitive division, $300 for the Challenge division, and $140 for the Junior division.

Anyone interested in registering can visit the curling club, or call Laurie at 250-785-2037.
