Denny Morrison held off the podium in Holland

Denny Morrison was held off the podium at this weekend’s world cup Long-track event in Heerenveen, Netherlands.

Morrison finished 10th in Friday’s 1,500 metres, and 12th in Sunday’s 1,000.

American Shani Davis won both the 1k and 1,500 events, clocking times of 1:08.48 and 1:44.48 respectively.

Jay Morrison, meanwhile, posted a 24th place finish in the 5,000 metre ‘B’ event on Saturday.

Christine Nesbitt was the best Canadian in Heerenveen, as she posted a win in Sunday’s 1,000 metres, as well as a silver in Saturday’s 1,500.

The Canadian women also won the team pursuit title, with Christin Nesbitt, Brittany Schussler, and Kristina Groves beating the silver medal winning Dutch team by almost two seconds.
