Fort St. John Medical Clinic to offer more H1N1 shots Friday

The H1N1 flu is being blamed in the deaths of eight more people in BC over the past week.

A total of 23 BC residents have now died since April after getting the flu, though all but one of them had underlying medical conditions. The last week also saw another 202 people with severe enough symptoms that they ended up in hospital.

In general, health officials say most lab-confirmed cases of the H1N1 flu in BC have been mild or moderate, and the patients have already recovered or are recovering.

The Fort St. John Medican clininc has just advised us that they will be holding another vaccination clinic on Friday from 9am to 3pm, with vaccines on offer to anyone in the first two waves of eligibility.

That means anyone in the first high-risk group, plus children between six months and five years old, health care workers, and anyone providing care to infants under six months, or with immunocompromised systems.
