Griffith wins Fort St. John cash spiel

Grande Prairie’s Colin Griffith was the big winner, at this weekend’s Pomeroy Inn & Suites Peace Curling Tour event at the Fort St. John Curling Club.

The Tour’s second leg, the Rhyason Contracting/Tidy Trucking Cash Spiel, saw Griffith’s rink beat Greg Pasichnuk of Manning, Alberta 5-3, in the Sun Life Financial Competitive Division.  With the win, Griffith moves into first place in the tour standings.

In the Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipelines Challenge Division, Fort St. John’s Glen Godberson defeated Grande Prairie’s Jaclyn Huitt, in a game that came down to last rock.  Godberson’s team now sits in a five-way tie for first in the tour’s Challenge Division.

The next event on the Peace Curling Tour is the Mile Zero cash spiel in Dawson Creek November 27 – 29.  The Dawson Creek event will determine final tour standings.  The top teams will earn births in the season ending championships in Sexsmith, Alberta January 22-24th, 2010.
