Even though BC’s jobless rate reached its highest level, in more than six years last month, the Northeast reassumed it’s postion, as the region in the province, with the lowest unemployment rate.
BC Stats. reports, the local area rate was 7.2 percent, more than a full percentage point below, both the provincial and national rates, at 8.3 and 8.6 percent, respectively.
Also well below the BC and Canadian rates, were the Thompson/Okanagan and Southwest Regions at 7.3 and 7.4 percent, respectively.
At the opposite end of the scale, were double digits rates of 11.5 and 10 percent, in the Cariboo and North Coast/Nechako regions.
