Denny Morrison 2nd in 1k

Denny Morrison has earned his second consecutive second-place finish at the Canadian Single-Distance Speed-skating championships.

Morrison finished Tuesday’s 1,000 metres in a time of 1:07.94, to finish 37 100ths of a second behind Jeremy Wotherspoon.  Morrison had already prequalified for the Olympics in the event, while Wotherspoon is trying to get back into Olympic contention, after missing most of the 2008/09 season with a broken arm.

Kyle Parrott finished third in the 1,000, while Fort St. John’s Jay Morrison also raced, finishing in 28th.

On the women’s side, Kristina Groves won Tuesday’s 1,000 metres, with Shannon Rempel in second, and Brittany Schussler in third.  Cindy Klassen finished in fourth, with Fort St. John’s Elyce Henry in 18th.
