The Government of Canada has announced around $350,000 in funding for Fort St. John’s recreational facilities.

Prince George-Peace River MP Jay Hill, along with Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, Lynne Yelich, announced on Monday the feds will provide $274,604 to the Peace River Regional District for upgrades to the North Peace Leisure Pool, and $75,857 to the City of Fort St. John for renovations to the North Peace Arena.

The money comes from Ottawa’s Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program.

Mayor Bruce Lantz says the money for the arena will allow for improvements to the floor and safety netting, as well as the installation of an energy saving low emissivity ceiling over the ice surface.
