Two projects got the green-light from the Northern Development Initiative Trust this week.
The NDI announced on Tuesday that Greensmart Manufacturing LTD. has been approved for funding under the ‘Capital Investment and Training Rebate’ program.
That means Greensmart will be provided with funding for improving manufacturing capacity and purchasing updated equipment. It will also train the more than 50 new employees that will be hired as a result of NDI’s contribution.
Meanwhile, NDI will be granting a loan for the re-construction of the Northeast Regional Auction Mart.
The Dawson Creek Exhibition Association plans to rebuild the iconic facility after it was destroyed by fire in 2004.
The NDI is providing a $507,800 loan through the ‘Economic Diversification Infrastructure’ program toward the $1,022,800 project.
Northern Development Chair Evan Saugstad says ranchers in Fort St. John, Taylor, Chetwynd and rural areas will be able to use this facility once it’s complete.
