Hospital Foundation recruiting runners

Some of the people working on Fort St. John’s new hospital project are contributing more than just nails and blueprints.

Rob Duxbury and Tom Sparrow are organizing a team called "Team Fort St. John," which will compete in the Vancouver Marathon on May 2nd.

Duxbury is from Acciona, one of the design firms working on the hospital project, and Sparrow is the Project Manager with Northern Health.

Executive Director for the local hospital foundation, Janice Isberg, says she’s delighted about the announcement.

So far, there are a handful of participants that have signed up, but Isberg says there’s still room for more. Each participant is asked to raise $5,000.

The overall goal of the ‘Legacy Run’ is to raise $50,000, with all proceeds to go into the Foundation’s endowment fund.

The fundraised money will not be immediately used, but the interest accumulated will fund equipment and patient comfort items.
