Huskies fall to Peace River


A night after posting a comfortable win over Grande Prairie, the Huskies stumbled to a 4-2 loss against Peace River on Saturday night.

Dan Pappin and Payden Wongstedt scored the Huskies goals, while Ty Gullickson made 24 saves in defeat.

Peace River got goals from Kelsey Dyck, Corson Fairless, Kurt Konopelka, and Kyle Smith, while newcomer Pat Murray stopped all but two of the 36 shots he faced.

"We just had no effort" said Assistant Coach Jeremy Clothier.  "We were lazy – we didn’t get in the shooting lanes, we didn’t get in the passing lanes – they outworked us."

The loss drops the Huskies to 2-3 in their past five games, though they remain nine points clear of Peace River for second place in the NWJHL standings. 

The Huskies will work their annual Fill the Bus campaign on Sunday.  Their next action is road games in Dawson Creek (Fri.) and Beaverlodge (Sat.) next weekend.
