After more than a decade, the MacKenzie Pipeline project cleared a major hurdle Wednesday.
A panel examining the 16.2 billion dollar natural gas pipeline through the Northwest Territories finally released it’s findings.
The report says the nearly 1,200km pipeline will “provide the foundation for a sustainable northern future,” if the panel’s 176 recommendations are adopted.
Now the National Energy Board will begin it’s hearings in April, taking the recommendations into consideration when it decides whether to give the final go ahead.
The NEB could release it’s final decision by September of 2010.
