Two new signs were unveiled at City Hall on Thursday, to celebrate Fort St. John as ‘Forest Capital of B.C. 2009.’

The signs will be placed in the Fish Creek Community Forest in Fort St. John.

Each sign indicates either a plant or animal, and states its importance to the Treaty 8 First Nation.

The signs are unique in that the wording is in both English and Dunne-Za. They will be placed in the local forest in the spring of 2010.

Fort St. John was awarded the title of ‘Forest Capital of B.C. 2009’ earlier this year. The city has been celebrating with numerous events throughout the year.

The title will be handed over to the Regional District of Mount Waddington in 2010.
