**Update as of 3:30pm power has been restored to the area effected. The outage was caused by a bird contacting hydro lines in the area.
A power outage is affecting almost 550 customers in Fort St. John.
B.C. Hydro reports the outage began at 1:48 p.m. on Monday, in an area on the Western edge of Fort St. John (West of 116th street).
Hydro says the cause is still under investigation, but says the power should be on at around 3:30 p.m.
