The Child Development Centre in Fort St. John received a generous donation this week.
Canadian Natural Resources donated $30,000 towards the CDC’s Build-a-Fort project on Tuesday. The Calgary-based company specializes in oil and natural gas exploration, development and production.
Operations Superintendent Calvin Jarratt says Canadian Natural wanted to positively impact Fort St. John, and that the CDC benefits many families in the region.
Project Build-a-Fort is the name of the CDC’s building/expansion renovation project. The organization hopes to not only expand the facility, but to offer a broader range of programs to meet the needs of children in the community.
Construction of the new expansion is scheduled to be complete in April, and by July, the site work and renovations on the existing wing will be done. The organization will continue to fundraise in order to pay down the building’s mortgage.
The goal is to raise $1.3 million. The CDC will hold two major events to help raise money for the cause, including a talent show and a charity golf tournament.
