Flyers continue rough stretch

The Fort St. John Senior Flyers lost suffered their third loss in four games on Saturday night, dropping a 6-4 decision to the Hythe Mustangs.

Tied 3-3 heading into the third period, the Flyers took a lead on a Jeff Fast goal 7 minutes in.  But, in a familiar storyline, the Mustangs scored three straight even-strength goals in the third, to win the game 6-4.

Ian Munro, Bryan Lewis, and Paul Weins scored the other Flyer goals, while Brenan Rycroft (2), Marty Jones, Mike Lefley, and Ryan Lizzotte responded for Hythe.  Lizzotte secured the win with an empty-netter with 36 seconds remaining in regulation.

It was the second time this season the Mustangs have beaten the Flyers at the North Peace Arena, the other being a shootout win on Nov. 21st.  The Flyers beat Hythe 5-4 in Fort St. John on January 9th, and will look to respond when they visit Hythe on Thursday Jan. 21st.  You can hear Thursday’s game live on Moose FM starting with the pre-game show at 8:15pm.
