Ice carvers from around the world met at Fort St. John’s Centennial Park on Friday, to turn a chunk of ice into art.

The international carvers began chipping away the ice blocks shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon. They have exactly two hours to complete their masterpieces.

The Single Block Ice Carving Competition is the first challenge of the High on Ice Festival.

A panel of judges is supervising the sanctioned event.

This year’s theme is ‘Spirit Within.’ For a full list of High on Ice Events, Click Here.
