Stores in the Peace Region are raising money for survivors of the Haiti earthquake.

The local B.C. Liquor Store will be accepting donations of $2.00 or $5.00 (or multiples thereof). All donations will be going towards the Canadian Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Fund.

Last Tuesday, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the western coast of Haiti. The Canadian Red Cross is mobilizing to support relief efforts in Haiti – providing medical support, clean water, food and shelter.

All B.C. Liquor Stores across the province will be accepting donations. However, BC Liquor Stores are unable to issue tax receipts for donations. Customers who require tax receipts should donate directly to the Canadian Red Cross.

Elsewhere, the local Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire are also collecting monetary donations for support efforts in Haiti.
