Local woman shaves head to support mother and hospital

Photo: Donna Greenway shaves Andrea Doherty’s (her daughter) head – submitted.

A Fort St. John woman is giving back after being indirectly affected by Cancer.

Andrea Doherty watched from the sidelines as her mother Donna Greenway began losing her hair to chemotherapy last year.

Doherty decided she wanted to support her mother’s struggle, all while raising money for cancer equipment.

After several months of fundraising, Doherty raised $3,157. She decided that on the day of her Mom’s last treatment, she would shave her own head.

The money raised went into the Cancer Diagnostic and Treatment Fund at the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation.

The fund is used to purchase equipment that aid in diagnosing and treating cancer.
