The Flyers edged the hotshots 7 – 6, backed by 60 minutes of a blue collar work ethic that proved to be their best game of the year, thus far. The Flyers came out of the first period up 2 -1 on goals by Keenan Gallagher and Travis Domeij. Tristan Nielsen set up both goals in the first. In the second period, Gallagher scored his 2nd goal of the game assisted by Adam Melnyk, but Smokey River managed two goals and the teams went into the third all tied at 3. The Flyers held a 6 – 4 lead at the midpoint of the third period on 2 goals by Nielsen and 1 by Aiden Craig-Steele. Konnor Sawyer and Gallagher had assists for these goals. However, the pesky Hotshots battled back to tie the score 6 – 6 with less then 4 minutes left. The Flyers hard work payed off in the end as Kolten Brekkas set up Craig-Steele’s second of the game that proved to be the winner with less then 2 minutes remaining on the clock. The Flyers head to High Level and La Crete this weekend for a pair of league games.

Ross H. MacLean Pee Wee AA Flyers Lead All Peace League

The Ross H. MacLean Pee Wee AA Flyers defeated the Fairview Post 7-5 in All Peace League action and remain undefeated with a 9-0 record. It was an exciting and entertaining game as the Flyers took the lead early but let the Post get back into the game a couple of times. The Flyers offense was led by Jarod Lang and Aiden Harris with 4 points each.

Ross H started the scoring when Gavin Gould poked home a rebound with Lang and Harris picking up assists on the play. Lang then added his first of the day with assists going to line mates Harris and Gould. The Post scored in the last minute to end the first period 2-1 in favour of the Flyers.

The Flyers jumped out to a 3-1 lead when Ryan Mulligan got a pass from Nolan Legace at his own blue line and skated into the Post end and hammered home a slap shot from the top of the face off circle. The Post came on strong after that goal and tied it up. With less than 2 minutes left in the second period the Flyers added 2 more for a 5-3 lead. First Alex Hartman sent a pass across the crease that Ricky Bateman one-timed in for a goal. Then Chase Allam slammed home a rebound with 30 seconds left, from Lang and Harris.

The third frame was just as entertaining as the Flyers scored early when Lang scored from Harris and Gould making it 6-3. However, the Post answered that right away with 2 quick goals. Hartman gave the locals some breathing room when he snapped a quick one in from Jordan Kosinsky. The Flyers held off the Post in the last few minutes to win 7-5. Lane Delfs picked up the win in net.

The Flyers are off to Grande Prairie for an All Peace Game next Saturday which should prove to be a tough battle as the Flyers have not yet beat the AA team.
