Flint Bantam B Flyers

The Fort St John Flint Bantam B Flyers played two home games on the weekend. On Saturday, they faced off against the Sexsmith Vipers at the Enerplex. The score was 3-1 for Sexsmith after the first period, and 7 – 4 for the Vipers after the second. Two quick goals by the Flyers at 19:44 and 18:47 in the third gave the Flyers some momentum, and although the Vipers scored at 11:21, two more goals by the Flyers (at 6:26 and 2:25) meant the game ended in an 8-8 tie. Goals were scored by Dekker Wilkins, Josh Lucas, Lien Miller-Jeannotte and Kayne Shallow. Assists went to Shallow, Miller-Jeannotte, Lucas, Austin Tompkins, Aiden June and Jordan Taylor.

In the second game of the weekend, the Flyers met Beaverlodge on Sunday. The final score was 5-3 for the Flyers, with each team incurring 14 penalty minutes. Goal scorers were Lien Miller-Jeannotte with two, and Darin O’Hanley, Josh Lucas and Aiden June with one. Assists came from Lucas, Miller-Jeannotte and Shaylor Middleton. 

Knights of Columbus Bantam Tier 2 Flyers go 1-1 over the weekend

The Knights of Columbus Flyers suffered a 7-2 loss at home against the Peace River Sabres. The Flyers were the first to hit the score board when Ricky Warren found the back of the net assisted by Braden Donis and Derek Donis. The Sabres retaliated with two quick goals to lead 2-1 after the first period.

Flyers found themselves in penalty trouble throughout the next two periods and Peace River took advantage and added 5 more goals to the scoreboard. Blake Giesbrecht cut the lead by adding a single assisted by Ryan Good and Jarred Sawka. Ty Helgason was the net minder.

However, Sunday’s action against Grande Prairie seen an energized Flyers team come out of the gate. Good started off the 1st period scoring with Jordan Eckel securing the assist. Grande Prairie answered back ending the period in a tie.

The second period showed similar action when Justin Taylor added a goal to put the Flyers back in the lead with a pass from Dallas Trim but Grande Prairie once again tied it up before heading into the third.

The third period was all Flyers when Jayton Wieler netted an unassisted goal, followed two minutes later, with another point added by Trim and assisted by Derek Donis to lead the Flyers to a 4-2 win.

Flyers kept a strong pace throughout the contest with a solid goaltending performance from Sean Gjerenes.

Flyers will be on the road this weekend with tournament action in Whitecourt.
