Mayor Bruce Lantz announced the route will begin at Heritage Manor on 107th Avenue. It will then move south on 100th Street and west on 100th Avenue.  The route will continue south on 108th street and then east on 97th Avenue, and end at Centennial Park.

Lantz also announced another torchbearer for the city.

13 year-old Jamie Lee will be carrying the torch and speed skating at the same time, on Bert Bowes’ outdoor oval. The young Elks Speed Skating member says she has mixed feelings about carrying the coveted torch.

But she says she’s also honored to represent speed skating in Fort St. John. Jamie says her dream is to one day compete in the Olympics.

Her mother, Anita Lee, says Jamie has worked hard for an opportunity like this, and she will support her daughter in whatever she wants to do.

Jamie says she clearly remembers the day her parents told her that she would be carrying the torch in Fort St. John’s relay, slated for January 31st.

Rick Lee, Jamie’s father, praised his daughter’s hard work. Rick says both of his children are naturals when it comes to speed skating.

The family says the Enerplex has been a blessing to the Elks Speed Skating Club. The Lee’s say they enjoy spending the day inside the building, practicing the sport.

Jamie Lee is the third torchbearer announced in Fort St. John. Other torchbearers include Calvin Osterlund, and longtime resident Ross H. MacLean.
