Police release details on Northwoods beating

More details have been released, following a serious altercation that occured at a Fort St. John hotel two months ago.

Two Alberta males, one in his 20’s, one in his 40’s, were staying at the Northwoods Inn on November 28th, 2009.  The men were in the Inn’s lounge shortly after midnight, where they began arguing with two males in their 20’s.  Corporal Steve Perret with the Fort St. John RCMP says police are investigating one man who was allegedly involved in the altercation that night. Perret says after the two Alberta men returned to their hotel room, two male suspects (along with an unknown number of associates) broke into their hotel room, and began beating on the man in his 40’s.  The man in his 20’s was pinned down by other suspects during this time.

Police say the victim was airlifted to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, where he was treated for his injuries.  The man had to undergo facial reconstruction, and is still experiencing vision problems in one of his eyes.  Perret explains that the local detachment hasn’t released information on this case until now, as the investigation is ongoing. But, he says Northwoods’ security cameras caught some of the crime, and that is being reviewed by investigators. [asset|aid=2347|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=f054944fa74833d1804b16dd14c30730-Steve Perret 1_1_Pub.mp3]

Corporal Perret says the suspects are all caucasian males in their early 20’s, and screenshots of them will be released to the media sometime next week.

Anyone with information that could prove useful in the investigation is asked to call the RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit, at (250) 787-8140
