Responding to the weekend resignation of Veteran Affairs Minister Greg Thompson, Conservative insiders say the federal cabinet is going to be “tweaked” today as the Harper government recalibrates itself, amid an improving economy.
However, the Canadian Press is reporting that Prime Minister Harper is about to make more than just some minor changes and could shuffle as many as ten ministers.
Those with major porfolios are not expected to get new jobs, but the National Post is reporting that two BC ministers who have impressed Mr. Harper could be involved in a series of moves, putting them in portfolios more closely connected, with the government’s economic agenda.
They are Trade Minister Stockwell Day and Government House Leader and Prince George/Peace River MP Jay Hill. The portfolios include Natural Resources which would cover oil sands development and nuclear power.
