The Ross H. MacLean Flyers Keep Winning Streak Alive

The FSJ Pee Wee AA Flyers had great goaltending from Lane Delfs and Colton Lancaster and some timely scoring to earn two more All Peace league wins. The Flyers are tied for 1st place with 16 points and remain undefeated in the All Peace League at 8-0.

The Flyers visited the Grande Prairie Royals on Saturday and had to kill off 3 penalties to make it a scoreless first period. Although the Flyers outshot the Royals the Royals notched the first goal in the second frame but that just seemed to motivate the Flyers and they scored 4 unanswered goals to finish the game 4-1. Gavin Gould scored on a nice pass from Sheldon Loewen when Gould was sent in alone and made no mistake as he evened up the game 1-1. Aiden Harris scored the game winner with a backhander from the slot from a nice set up by Jarod Lang and Gould. Ricky Bateman scored on a nice individual effort with a shot just under the crossbar. Lang finished of the Flyers scoring with an assist going to Harris.

In Dawson on Sunday, the game played out much the same. The Flyers took a 1-0 lead as Gould chased down a potential icing call, picked up the puck at the goal line, drove to the net and banged in his own rebound. In the second frame the Flyers took a 2-0 lead on Salina Edward’s goal, on a great passing play from Bryson Eklund and Loewen. Dawson Creek scored the next 3 to take a 3-2 lead. The Flyers offence ignited again late in the game as they scored 4 unanswered goals. Lang on the PP scored from a Jeff Bochon pass and then Lang set up Harris with a nice feed across the crease for the game winner. Bateman gave the Flyers some insurance when he scored on a rush with another top corner shot unassisted. Lang scored his second goal on a 176 foot shot into the empty net as the Flyers won 6-3.

The next action for the Ross H. McLean Flyers is Saturday Jan 9th at home in the Enerplex at 10:15 am.
