A collision between two pick up trucks Saturday some time around 6:00 a.m. has resulted in the deaths of a 30 year old Beaverlodge man and a 49 year old Grande Prairie man.

Police say that the 30 year old man was operating a pick up truck east bound on Highway 43 which investigators believe crossed the line of centre, colliding with a west bound pick up truck operated by the 49 year old man.   Both trucks left the roadway entering opposing ditches, with the east bound truck catching on fire.  The 30 year old man was dead at the scene; and the 49 year old man succumbed to his injuries after emergency personnel arrived. The drivers were each the lone occupant in their respective vehicles.

A Traffic Collision Analyst is working with the local detachment to determine factors which contributed to the event. The collision was reported to police by a motorist coming upon the scene. Highway 43 was closed for approximately 6 hours as a result of the collision.

Anyone who witnessed or has information regarding the collision, is asked to contact the RCMP at (780)830-5700.
