The Fort St. John RCMP say a Fort St. John resident is dead, after a two-vehicle collision on the Cecil Lake Road, early Tuesday morning.

Police say their preliminary investigation suggests the accident was caused when a Westbound pick-up truck became seperated from its trailer, which contained oilfield servicing equipment.

Police say the trailer struck an Eastbound international tanker truck, killing the driver instantly.

There were no other passengers in the tanker truck, and the name of the deceased 25 year-old driver has not yet been released.  The driver of the pick-up truck was uninjured.

The investigation into the accident continues, and police say no charges have been laid at this point. The Cecil Lake Road remains closed, and the bypass route around the collision scene remains in effect.
