Enerplex Education Space & City Casino Revenue

Sighting an illness as her reason for a more than four month delay to follow up on a UBCM meeting last September, Provincial Education Minister, Margaret MacDiarmid has filed a written response with Fort St. John City Council on its proposal for Enerplex space for School District 60.

The minister confirms the local school district has requested additional space in its 2009/10 five year Capital Plan which is now under provincial review.

However, while not closing the door on the idea, she’s also stopped far short of endorsing it. She notes instead, it will now be evaluated and fairly ranked based on the need for space and condition of existing facilities with competing capital projects from all the school districts in the province.

Meantime, in other government correspondence before Council today, the Ministry of Housing and Social Development confirms the electronic transfer to the city of just over 175,000 dollars.

It represents the Fort St. John share of casino revenue for a three month period ending December 26th of 2009.
