New UNBC Chancellor

Prince Rupert native John S. MacDonald, who succeeding in building MacDonald Dettwiler, into one of Canada’s most successful companies, will be the new chancellor of the Prince George based University of Northern British Columbia.
A leading international figure in space science, technology and renewable energy, he was named to the post yesterday, and will be officially installed May 28th.
The 5th person to hold the position, he will succeed Doctor Alex Michalos, who completes a three year term on May 24th.
Iono Campagnolo, George Pederson, and Peter Bentley have also served as UNBC Chancellors.
The University has a core campus enrolment of more than four thousand students, and more than 70 percent of the student population is from Northern BC.
UNBC also has regional campuses in Fort St. John, Terrace, and Quesnel.
