The provincial finance minister is scheduled to address the local Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Tuesday at the Pomeroy Hotel.
Advance information on Colin Hansen’s speech indicates he’ll discuss his government’s 2010 budget, and how he anticipates it will position B.C. for a decade of growth and prosperity.
His visit comes on the heels of some positive February employment numbers…and also, yesterday’s visit by former Socred Premier, Bill Vander Zalm, who is leading the fight against the July first government implementation of the HST.
These are two points that Mr. Hansen has welded together in previous discussions of this nature…
He certainly is coming to the right area to talk about positive job numbers, as BC Stats says the February jobless rate in the Northeast was down to 4 point 4 percent…more than three percent below the provincial rate, and nearly four percent below the national rate.
