The Fort St. John RCMP detachment has received numerous complaints about a door-to-door scam circulating within the city.

Residents are reporting that unauthorized solicitors are going door-to-door and seeking donations.

Police says the solicitors are not associated with the organizations that they claim to be from.

Officers are reminding the public to use caution before providing any donations.

Individuals must have authorization to collect money from the organization they are representing. The individual must also be able to issue official receipts from the organization.

Fort St. John residents are urged to call the RCMP at 250-787-8100 if they have any information on these incidents.
