The Formula Powell Midget ‘B’ Flyers hosted Grande Cache on Saturday, for game 2 of their two-game All-Peace league final series.
After stealing a 9-7 win in game one last weekend in Grande Cache, the Flyers were up two goals heading into the final game.
Game 2 didn’t start well, with the Rockies jumping out to a 2-0 lead after the first period, and a 3-1 lead after the second.
The Flyers stormed out of the gate in the third, scoring three goals in the first five minutes, to give Fort St. John the lead. The Rockies fought back to retake the lead. But, leading by 1 in the dying minutes, they needed a second goal to even the total score. The Rockies pulled their goalie to try to get the equalizer, but Ryan Bueckert stood tall in the Fort St. John net, and at the final horn, it was Grande Cache 5, Fort St. John 4, meaning on aggregate it was 13-12 Flyers.
Scoring for Fort St. John on Saturday were Cody Belcourt, Braylun Ecklund, Beauden Lancaster, and Brock Mitchell.
The series win gives Fort St. John’s Formula Powell Midget ‘B’ Flyers the All-Peace league championship.
