Anti-HST activists around Fort St. John are gearing up for a fight.

Organizers plan to rally at the Lido Theatre in April, in hopes of gaining signatures for a petition against the controversial Harmonized Sales Tax.

Former B.C. Premier Bill Vander Zalm is spearheading the petition, which he says the Liberal government has to take seriously, because it’s registered with Elections B.C.

The petition requires the signatures of 10% of registered voters in every riding. If successful, it would be submitted to a Legislative Standing Committee. Vander Zalm says that should result in a province-wide referendum on the HST, or a vote in the legislature to stop the tax from coming into effect on July 1st.

Anyone in interested in signing the petition can stop by the Lido on April 6th, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
