Sub Zeroes prepare to spring into action

The Sub-Zero Track and Field Club is ready to come out of hibernation.
Registration and the season’s first practice will go on Tuesday April 6th, at the Bert Bowes Gym.
The sub Zeroes will be practicing indoors on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Once it’s nice enough, the club will move outdoors, and add a Monday practice to the schedule.
“Sometimes we’re outside the second week of April” says club coach Grant Spelsberg. “But I’m not as optimistic this year” he laughs.
Spelsberg says no matter what, the club’s first formal competition this year will be the Hershey Track and Field Meet in Grande Prairie, on May 15th. “They have a nice rubber track there, and I’m sure it will be bare and dry. How much running we’ll have done outside by then is another good question.”
Registration is $50 per athlete, with a maximum cost of $100 per family. This year, the Sub-Zeros are restricting membership to those born in 2001 or earlier.
