Blizzard bike club had their first "off road" Duathlon of the season on the newew "Cactus Circuit" located just off the road to Cecil Lake in the beautiful beatton valley. It was only attended by 4 members but since it was the first ever duathlon held there we did it just for fun and not for points. It was dubbed the "Get off your couch" Duathlon because the run section of 1.5km included a run out to an old couch along the highway and return, then a 2.5km fairly technical mountain bike course followed by a secon 1.5km run out and around the couch. Final results for the race were Jolea Bilodeau with 50:24, Lucie Brain with 43:38, Gord Harris 35:55 and Pat Ferris winning by a slim margin with 35:47. We compared scatches after the race to see who had the most and gave bonus points for the most spectacular crashes.

On tuesday, the 27th, we will start out series of 5 duathlons starting at 7pm at Baldonnel school. This is will be a 2km run, 8km bike on pavement and a 2km run so all Blizzard Bike Club members are welcome. To become a member call Ferris Fast Cycles at 785-3711 to find out more information.
