The Fort St. John Fire Department responded to a small fire today in a field off 108th Street.

Deputy Fire Chief Curtis Redpath says someone lit an abandoned couch on fire.

The blaze was quickly extinguished, but Redpath says the fire department usually responds to these kinds of fires in the field several times per year.

He says residents shouldn’t be dumping in the area, but continue to do so.
