Local Riding HST Petition Support Over the Top

They still have a long way to go, but those behind the peitition to axe the Harmonized Sales Tax are very pleased with their results to date.

As reported earlier, in order to be recognized 10 percent of registered voters in each of the province’s 85 ridings have to sign the petition by July 5th.

Meantime, “Fight H-S-T” leader, Bill Vander Zalm says the Campbell government plans to send out a letter to every househeld in the province in a million-dollar-plus campaign opposing the citizen initiative petition.

However, the former Socred leader also says if that happens it will violate section 39 of the Initiative Act, because the government failed to meet the required March 15th deadline to register as an official opponent.
