Following Friday’s news from Stats. Canada that the provincial rate jumped from 7.7 to 7.9 percent, BC Stats. has reported the Northeast region rate remained unchanged at 4.4 percent.

That’s in sharp contrast to three other regions of the province, as the Cariboo, Kootenay, and North Coast Nechako regions were all in double digits…at 10.3, 10.6, and 11.5 percent respectively.

The local area rate is also well below all the provincial rates in the country, with Saskatchewan still the lowest at 5.1 percent.
