As the days begin to get warmer, Peace Region residents continue to wait for a decision on a proposed controversial third dam on the Peace River.

The Vancouver Sun quotes energy minister Blair Lekstrom as saying he will not wait for detailed engineering and environmental studies before choosing whether or not to proceed with the proposed Site C project.
But Lekstrom says that quote was taken out of context.

While some reports speculate the Site-C decision will be made next week, Lekstrom only says the Province will make its decision sometime this spring.
Lekstrom says whatever happens with the proposed project, he wants the decision made once and for all.

Coincidently, B.C. Hydro is scheduling a press conference on Monday at the W.A.C. Bennett Dam. The topic of the conference is the “future of clean energy in British Columbia.”

There’s no word yet if that means there’s going to be a Site-C announcement.

But B.C. Hydro’s website refers to the proposed Site-C dam as a form of clean energy. It says that the Province needs to ensure that future generations of British Columbians are able to enjoy the same benefits of clean and reliable power that we do today.

Lekstrom wouldn’t comment on the nature of the news conference.
