By Energeticcity.ca Staff

The Fort St. John RCMP and Conservation Officers are on the search for a small black bear in Fort St. John.

The bear was first spotted during the early morning hours of Thursday May 20th.  The RCMP just released information about the sighting today.  The bear was first spotted behind the RCMP detachment on 100th street.

Attempts to coax the bear out were unsuccessful.  According to the RCMP, the bear was not acting aggressively in any way and was last spotted in the area of 112th avenue and 98th street.  Conservation Officers were contacted and advised to let the bear make its way back to the woods.

The Police are advising the public to be aware of their surrounds at all times when out in public.  Parents are asked to remind children not to approach and avoid any wildlife.

If you spot the bear, please contact Conservation Officers at 250-787-3225.  You can also contact the RCMP at 250-787-8140.
