$7,200 is the initial tally, from yesterday’s local Wheels in Motion fund-raising event, in support of people with spinal cord injuries.
However, organizers are confident the total will increase as more money comes in over the next few days. The number is still double what was raised in 2009, but didn’t meet their goal of $25,000.
This year’s 8th annual event at Centennial Park was held on the 25th anniversary of the Man-in-Motion tour, and thus the local fund raising goal has been set at $25,000.
Prior to the event, organizer Lori Slater conceded, it is an ambitious target…
Given that Northern BC has the highest incidence of spinal cord injuries, for all of North America, it is still hoped per capita public response in this area, will be among the strongest in the nation.
