Property taxes due by Friday

Residents who don’t pay their property taxes before leaving for the long weekend will be facing penalties.

The penalty-free payment deadline is at 4:30pm on Friday.

The penalty is 10 per cent and it will be added to your outstanding balance.

You can again pay your taxes this year, by internet banking, phone banking, at most financial institutions in the city, and at city hall by cheque, cash or debit card.

You can also use Canada Post, but cheques sent to city hall through the mail should be post marked to July 2nd, 2010 and residents should allow for delivery time.

Furthermore, if you’re submitting a Home Owner Grant Application that must be done prior to the deadline, regardless of what payment method is used.

Finally, any property owner who has not yet received a 2010 tax notice should contact City Hall immediately at 250-787-8150.
