Shaw wins wild finish in BBC Sunday road race

Kevin Shaw won the Blizzard Bike Club’s Sunday night Cecil Lake road race in a close seven rider sprint finish. He held off Pat Ferris and Trevor McDonnell to win a close one. Other riders in the finishing pack were George Gamble, Richard Wood, Les Elliott and Roger St. Jean. All had a time of 1:25:48 hours for the 49 km distance.

Conditions were excellent on a rare Sunday evening road race. Owen Giebelhaus caused a stir by an early breakaway that lasted 20 km’s.

Other finishers were Owen Giebelhaus at 1:31:52, Jake Elliott 1:36:08 and Christina Woodruff 1:46:56.

Sam Keats won the 25 km event with 52:57, just ahead of Ken Nix. Adam Currie was second at 53:00 and Cassie Baker at 1:00:15.
