The communities in bloom judges are coming to Fort St. John this weekend and will be touring the city.

Karen Simpson is the chair of the Celebrate Fort St. John committee and says they will be touring most of the city looking at businesses, commercial areas, and residential properties. She hopes residents will be able to come out and see the judges and show their civic pride.

She says there were approximately 15 youth artists that came out to decorate panels that will be put up around the fence of the Fort Hotel and encourages residents to view the panels.

Simpson says the judges will be looking at many different aspects of the city and how it is run.

She added that, in the past, the city has lost marks because of the condition of the roads.

The judges will be marking the city on the amount of community involvement, pride, cleanliness, types of trees, the types of flowers, and the walking paths.

She says they look at every aspect of a city that would make it a community and she wants to encourage people to showcase their gardens.

The judge’s schedule can be viewed below. Please note, however, that the schedule could be subject to change.
