It could be argued that is was little more than a drop in the drought prevention bucket.
However, 6.6 millimeters of rain was recorded at the local airport in the past three days, and that put the month-to-date total at 23.8.
That’s still less than a third of the July average, and less than half of what this area receieved in July of last year, 55.9 millimeters.
The last time Fort St. John equalled or exceeded the local area July average of 83.2 was in 2005, when we totalled 123.3.
That was the year we had 84.4 millimeters during the seven day period beginning on the 20th…and 44.4 in just one day, on the 23rd.
Still we have already exceeded the 20.6 millimeters we received in July of 2008, and more importantly the 14.3 we got last month.
That noted the District of Taylor has decided to withdraw its Stage-3 water restrictions, and has reinstated those associated with Stage-1.
