Pool to open Monday

The North Peace Leisure Pool will be officially opening on Monday.

Karin Carlson, pool manager, says the pool will open at 6 a.m. and everything will be accessible at that time.

The pool has been closed for renovations since April.

Originally, the pool was only supposed to be closed for six weeks, but in June it was delayed for another six weeks because of additional problems that had been encountered and needed to be dealt with.

Carlson says she won’t know about what effect the delay has had on the project’s budget or on the loss of revenue generated from the pool’s use, but added that some money was being saved from operating costs during that time.

The work, however, is not yet finished but she says she is confident it will be completed in time.

She says tile work and cleaning are some of the main items that will need to be finished by Monday’s early opening.

The pool will have a more public opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony and speeches on Sept. 18.
