RCMP investigate vehicle fire

The local RCMP is seeking public assistance as it continues to look for the owner, and a possible suspect, in a week old vehicular fire case.

It says early last Saturday (July 24th, 2010) morning, police found an abandoned derby style car, engulfed in flames, in the southbound ditch, of the Alaska Highway, near 72nd street.

Fire-fighters were able to get the fire out and investigators identified a L.A.N.D Transport logo on the front passenger door of the severely burnt vehicle.

A witness, who arrived at the scene before police, reported seeing a man running away from the scene.

He’s described as caucasian, likely in his early twenties and about 5 feet seven inches tall.

Police are now taking public information assistance calls hoping they could led to either his location or to the vehicle’s owner.

Once again the numbers to call are 250-787-8140 or 1-800-222-8477.
