Update:  The RCMP have now told us this fire is being treated as an arson.  We hope to have further updates tomorrow from the Fort St. John RCMP.

 

Two houses were destroyed by fire on 82nd street Friday night in Fort St. John. 

The fire started in the house that was under construction at the time and one adjacent house was also totally destroyed.  Crews received the first call shortly after 10pm on Friday.

Fire Chief Fred Burrows speaking about the incident:

No cause has been released by the RCMP or the Fire Department at this point, however RCMP Members were seen searching the area and taking photographs of bystanders.  No one was injured in the fire.

Police and fire crews are asking the public to stay away from the area.
