Arrests made after Saturday house fire

Police arrested four people after a house fire in the 9600 block of 96 Avenue in Fort St. John.

After the fire was extinguished, RCMP found that several items had been stolen from the residence, including TVs, stereo equipment and snow boards.

The Fort St. John RCMP say they believe the fire was intentionally set after the theft and there was a witness that saw a U-Haul van parked at the house shortly before the fire.

A search warrant was executed at the 10600 block of 111 Avenue on Sunday and found many of the stolen items.

A 24 year-old woman was arrested and released on a Promise to Appear in court in October. A 20 year-old man and a 16 year-old have not yet been charged in the incident but remain in custody on unrelated matters.

A fourth person was arrested and released without being charged.

Police say there is also a 21 year-old man in custody on an unrelated matter who has not yet been charged in connection with the incident but who will appear in court Wednesday on other charges.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Fort St. John RCMP at 250-787-8140 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
